Self-belief is something we are all born with. However as we develop a conscious mind, we take in the words and actions of our parents and those around us and internalise them until they become part of us. Their beliefs or how they have spoken to us or treated us influence our belief system. This belief system, born at a very young age, goes on and grows into our adulthood and controls how we think and behave. More often than not it’s our beliefs that limit what we think we are capable of. They create self-doubt and that leads to self-sabotage!
Of course I am not here to blame anyone. Our parents raised us and loved us to the best of their abilities with the knowledge and awareness they had. Although most of these limiting beliefs are formed and ingrained in us in our youth, they can be unlearned. It takes time but we can unlearn these negative beliefs and learn new positive, true beliefs that will nourish our spirit.
What is self-doubt?
Self-doubt is that little voice in your head that tells you that you can’t do it, or that you will fail if you try. It often gangs up on you with its friend logic and talks you out of trying something new or pursuing a new idea. This is your subconscious trying to keep you safe. But you don’t need saving. 🙂
You can take charge! It doesn’t have to stay this way. You can change your internal belief system and reprogram that part of you that says you can’t and starting BELIEVING that YOU CAN! And my friend you WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE!
How to Obliterate Self-Doubt:
Study yourself and note the belief pattern you currently have that’s creating negative results in your life. Acknowledge them. Write them down on a piece of paper. Now on another piece of paper write down the exact opposite.
For example, a negative belief could be “I always get muddled up in my words and embarrass myself when I speak in public” the opposite of this and the new belief to internalise could then be “I always speak clearly and passionately and convey my message easily.”
Take the piece of paper with the negative belief in it and burn it or shred it! No this won’t eradicate the belief from within you but it’s a symbol, that you are releasing this belief. Just let it go, it does not serve you!
You can do this for multiple beliefs although it’s best to try and change one or two at a time.
Take your new belief and write it, listen to it, speak it aloud, do this daily, hourly! As often as you can. Repetition is key! Write it on post-its and stick them up on your mirrors, your fridge, by your bed or at your desk where you work. When you do this emotionalise it and begin to feel it. You might think that it sounds too simple to be effective, but it is! This is a powerful tool you can use to retrain your thinking!
Employ the attitude of the version of you that you want to become. Visualise being that person, how they speak, act and behave as if you already are that person. Changing your attitude to align with the new beliefs you want to adapt is what will transform them from fiction to fact.
Take pride in what you have achieved. Celebrate every win, big and small. The more you recognise your achievements the more you will achieve. When you start to see what you have done and can do there will be nothing you cannot do!
You will truly be unstoppable! Believe it!
